Bruno Fernandes not concerned of being tired after playing his 69th match

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes recently expressed that he does not dwell on the idea of being fatigued despite having played his 69th match of the season.

Fernandes had an outstanding season with United, assuming a leadership role in the absence of captain Harry Maguire.

His contributions were pivotal to the team’s success, and he received praise for his resilience and ability to consistently perform throughout the campaign.

Fernandes, at the age of 28, emerged as the player with the highest number of appearances in Europe’s top five leagues, accumulating a total of 5,900 minutes on the pitch.

This figure is notably higher than the second-placed player, Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan, who logged 4,500 minutes.

Fernandes’ durability is commendable, and his energy seemed unfaltering as he continued to demonstrate his prowess on the field during Portugal’s recent match on Saturday night.

Portugal secured a 3-0 victory over Bosnia, with Fernandes playing a pivotal role once again. The 28-year-old midfielder showcased his immense talent by scoring two goals and providing an assist.

When asked about the tiresome schedule and chances of being fatigued, the midfielder said that he is not really concerned about that right now. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:

“I was fresh, now less fresh, but I will recover. Later I’ll have my rest, but I always want to play and give my best. I don’t want to think about being tired.”

“It was a great win, these are difficult games and we have to make them easy, as we did. I’m pleased to have scored, but the most important thing was getting the three points.”

The Portuguese maestro has been a key figure for United since signing for the club two years back. Erik ten Hag has made him play regularly and his impact is there to see in the recent team results.

He would be crucial for the Reds for the season to come, but the club will also aim to sign another attacking midfielder to help relieve the stress on Fernandes.

Playing such a high number of matches increases the chances of being injured or fatigued, and the manager would not want to lose his captain due to such reasons.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount has been targeted to provide cover for the 28-year-old midfielder. Mount is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder and could provide a good backup option for Fernandes.
