After defeating fierce rivals Manchester City, star midfielder Bruno Fernandes has summed up the progress made by Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils have shown a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford since their early losses in the Premier League. Ten Hag’s men haven’t lost a single home game since their last defeat against Brighton.
United got the better of Manchester City, as they came from behind to win a tough game in front of their home supporters. Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored the key goals to finish the game with a 2-1 scoreline.
The most fascinating aspect of this squad is the way through which they have battled all their difficulties and learned to be a strong unit together. The Portuguese star gave a strong reply when asked about the club’s spirited win against their fierce rivals.
As reported by The Athletic, Fernandes said:
“For us, (it) doesn’t matter the opponent, the most important (thing) is winning. And we did it. Amazing comeback and a great effort from the team. I said before to the team, ‘We look like a team now’.
“Some time ago, you could see sometimes (we were) a team, sometimes each one of us (was) looking a bit for ourselves. Now, you see a proper team that works hard for each other and you see that it pays off.”
The Dutch boss started his reign with some important signings last summer. By bringing in Casemiro, Antony, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez, Ten Hag built a strong foundation for the team.
The current United players started their cycle of improvement under their manager, and every other player chipped in with valuable contributions in the league matches. The Red Devils have already defeated Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Manchester City this season, which shows that they are ready to hunt the big fish and compete for the top prize.
Long may this progress continue, and the players will fight for the badge until they reach the top of the summit.
