Burnley 1-1 Manchester United Match Report | Premier League 21-22

Manchester United’s stuttering form of late failed to subside with the Red Devils held to a 1-1 stalemate away at basement side Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Marcus Rashford went through on goal with an early chance but Nick Pope was called into action on his near-post shot to turn Rashford’s effort behind.

Raphael Varane thought he had given the visitors to Turf Moor an early lead with the ball in the net only for a VAR check to chalk off the goal.

Paul Pogba was there to give his side the opener as the Frenchman rifled a cutback from United wing-back Luke Shaw into the top corner of the net.

The likes of Edinson Cavani, Fernandes and Rashford were all denied by Burnley’s ever-present shot-stopper Pope with United heading into the interval with a slender lead.

Sean Dyche’s men, however, levelled the affair inside the second minute of restart with Jay Rodriguez slotting his finish past David de Gea to make it 1-1.

Wout Weghorst could have doubled Burnley’s advantage if not for De Gea who had to dive at full stretch to deny the former from netting his debut goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo coming off the bench for the Red Devils failed to add the much-needed firepower in the final third with Burnley holding strong to secure a well-earned point from the outing.
