Manchester United star Casemiro has backed Marcus Rashford to become one of the world’s top players. The Brazilian admitted that he didn’t have any idea how good the English winger was before he joined the club.
Under Erik ten Hag, Rashford has rediscovered his best form, scoring 11 goals and dishing out four assists in all competitions this season, in addition to three goals at the World Cup.
Rashford’s goal helped the Red Devils defeat Wolves by a 1-0 scoreline at the weekend. The winger had actually started the first-half on the bench because he arrived late for pregame practice. Casemiro later admitted that his expectations of the attacker had been completely exceeded by Rashford.
As reported by The Metro, the Brazilian midfielder said:
“I’m gonna be very honest with you. I was really surprised with the player Rashford is. In my opinion, especially knowing the player off the pitch, I can tell you that if he’s doing well, he can be one of the top five players in the world.”
“He has an incredible way of hitting the ball, he’s got strength, he’s quick, is very clever playing. He was one of the players that really surprised me. Of course when you play in a different league you already know the player, but when you’re in the same club every day.”
“What a spectacular player. I’m enjoying so much playing with him. He gives us a lot of energy. I’m delighted to play with him.”
Rashford has been a crucial component of United’s attacking line this season and has had no issue accepting punishment for his slack timekeeping.
Rashford has played all over the forward line, but now that Anthony Martial is fit enough to start up front, he has returned to his preferred left-wing position. He is in scintillating form as he scored three goals in his last five games. Meanwhile, he has scored six goals in 16 Premier League games this season.
His contribution has been immense under the Dutch boss, and the manager seems to be keeping his faith in Rashford to deliver in crucial matches.
