Casemiro granted work permit ahead of a possible debut against Southampton

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, new signing Casemiro has been granted the work permit and will start training with his new Manchester United teammates.

The five time Champions League winner will be excited to dawn the Red shirt and he would be available to make his debut in the Premier League match against Southampton this weekend.

The 30-year-old midfielder is a statement signing for United even if he wasn’t the first choice player. The fans expected Frenkie de Jong to move to Old Trafford but Barcelona’s reluctance to accept a deal have made things complicated.

However, the board wanted to sign a defensive midfielder and there will be no better player than Casemiro. Erik ten Hag wanted a strong player to command the midfield and the Brazilian is one of the best at his position.

The former Real Madrid star has spoken to the club’s official website and has expressed his pleasure to play for the biggest club in England.

He said:

“Well, it’s the biggest club in England. It’s the club with the most amount of titles. So, I’m really happy and just can’t wait to get going.”

Manchester United will travel to St. Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton on Saturday. The Dutch manager will be able to hand Casemiro his debut and the fans would be ecstatic to watch him play.

The formation could see some changes but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the manager prefers to pair the former Real Madrid star alongside Brazilian teammate, Fred. Both the midfielders have done well for the national side whenever they have been given the opportunity to play together.

It remains to be seen whether the manager decides to start Casemiro or use him as a substitute against the Saints.
