Manchester United signed Edinson Cavani on the deadline day of the summer transfer window but the striker hasn’t started for the Red Devils yet. Cavani has got a few cameos for Manchester United but the veteran striker hasn’t looked sharp, like he used to at PSG. But Solskjaer has now cleared out in his press conference that Cavani is not fully fit and ready yet to start for the Red Devils.
Cavani hasn’t opened his account for the Red Devils yet, despite playing a few games. The Uruguayan striker is known for his goalscoring abilities as he has scored in numbers in all his previous clubs. The centre-forward is one of the most hardworking players in football, but before joining United, he didn’t play in a competitive game for about seven months.
In his interview, Solskjaer said: “He’s generally a fit man anyway and he’s getting his sharpness in training and he’s got some substitute appearances now. We haven’t managed to get him long enough yet to make a big impact but he’s looking sharper and sharper in training so it won’t be long.”
The Manchester United squad and Solskjaer would hope that Cavani regains full fitness as soon as possible and helps the side with goals and assists. With Martial looking slightly off colour and Ighalo completely out of shape, Cavani’s fitness will come into play sooner rather than later. Edinson Cavani is expected to thrive at Manchester United but needs to get going soon and make an impact.
