Manchester United suffered a 4-3 shattering defeat through the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday. Erik ten Hag’s men wouldn’t have expected such a shocking result after leading the scoreline until the last minute of the game.
The Blues scored the game’s first goal through Conor Gallagher. The English star netted the game’s first goal in the fourth minute. Cole Palmer doubled their lead via an unfortunate penalty conceded by Antony in the 19th minute.
However, Alejandro Garnacho had other plans as he scored the first goal for Man United in the 34th minute. Bruno Fernandes then netted the equaliser five minutes later to turn the game around before the half-time whistle.
Garnacho scored his second goal and United’s third one in the 67th minute to stun the home fans. The game had some tense moments with both sides missing crucial chances.

However, with nine added minutes, the game was expected to end interestingly. Man United held on until the 99th minute as Ten Hag’s side stared at a win.
Palmer had other plans as Diogo Dalot tripped Noni Madueke in the penalty box. The former Man City star scored the resulting penalty in the 100th minute. The goal shattered United’s hopes of grabbing all three points.
However, just before the final whistle, Chelsea hit the final nail in the coffin as Palmer scored via a quick corner kick. His shot got deflected through Scott McTominay and into the net.
The fans in the Stamford Bridge went crazy as the Blues sealed a stunning 4-3 victory.
Our three talking points from the game:
1. Antony and Garnacho prove their worth with vital goals
Both attackers were a bit sloppy in the initial 20 minutes. However, they quickly shifted gears as the home side went two goals ahead.
Antony was far more clinical in front of goals and he had a role in the first goal. The Brazilian made sure the ball was in play as he controlled a cross on the line and kept the ball in play.
Moises Caicedo was at fault for fluffing his lines and passing the ball straight to Garnacho. The Argentine calmly slotted the ball past Petrovic in the left corner.

Antony again had a role to play in the second half as he provided an inch-perfect killer cross in the box. Garnacho headed the ball in and scored United’s third goal.
2. Man United failed to maintain their composure in the end
The Red Devils had their game on a plate until the last minute of the game. The fans will be disappointed by the fact that the visitors were unable to close the game after putting up an inspiring performance.
Ten Hag’s men went from 2-0 down to 3-2 up but still somehow lost the game after the 99th minute. It all started with Dalot’s unfortunate fall that tripped Madueke and handed Chealse a chance to level the scoreline via a penalty kick.
The fourth goal also came out of nowhere as the players switched off the back leading to the Blues taking a quick corner.
Palmer was left unmarked and with acres of space, the English star had all the time on earth to take a shot at goal and a huge deflection guided the ball into the net.

To lose in such a way is very disappointing. Not only did they miss all three points but also dented their hopes of landing in the top four.
3. Fans witnessing a classic game at Stamford Bridge
The Chelsea-Man United game has always entertained the supporters and yesterday’s match was no exception. It was a proper end-to-end game with several counter-attacking moves and non-stop attacking action.
With drama running high, both sides gave their everything to make sure that the game was filled with goals. Seven goals were scored in a night where even the extra time was not spared.
The Blues last won a match against the Red Devils in November 2017. However, they have now grabbed one after six years and in a shocking way.

Youngsters were running the show at Stamford Bridge with Palmer and Garnacho sharing five goals between them. It was a real classic at hand even if it was a disappointing one for Ten Hag’s men.
