Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in their next Premier League clash on Thursday. Erik ten Hag’s side will face a tough challenge in less than three days from the Brentford clash.
The Red Devils recently displayed a disastrous performance against the Bees as they held on for a draw. Mason Mount’s last-minute goal was enough to get all three points as Ajer scored the equaliser for the host.
Meanwhile, Chelsea also drew 2-2 against Burnley as Cole Palmer’s brace spared blushes for the Blues yet again. Both sides will be aiming to get back to winning ways in their next match.
United are placed in the sixth position in the table. On the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are positioned at the 11th spot in the table.
Both sides have met 194 times before, the Red Devils winning 83 times and Chelsea emerging victorious 55 times. The host last won a league game against Man United in November 2017.
Ten Hag’s side were fantastic in the 4-3 FA Cup victory over Liverpool. However, they need to ensure their fans forget about their recent setback against Brentford by grabbing all three points on Thursday.
Talking about the team, United have injury problems to deal with. The gaffer is expected to field the same side with relatively little changes.
Centre-backs Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof were both subbed off due to issues. Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire have returned to club action.
Andre Onana will be expected to start at the back. Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka would keep their places on the flanks. Mason Mount would start again alongside Casemiro in midfield.
Bruno Fernandes will captain the side from the attacking midfield position. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho will start from the wings. Rasmus Hojlund will complete the attacking trio upfront.
The line-up looks strong on paper and they need to prove it through their performance against a spirited Chelsea side.
