Chiellini and Bonucci have a warning for Manchester United

Juventus center-backs Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci have a warning for Manchester United about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo saved United’s blushes again as he scored the winner against Atalanta and this continuous trend seems to be too dangerous according to the two Italian centre-backs who were Ronaldo’s former teammates at Juventus.

Man United has been saved by Ronaldo on numerous occasions and his match-winning goal against Villarreal weeks back speaks volumes.

He has been United’s top scorer this season and the over-dependency on Ronaldo has been well explained by his former Juventus teammates who have suffered due to their team being unable to lift them up when Ronaldo left.

As reported by Daily Mail, Chiellini said:

“Ronaldo left on 28 August, it would have been better for us if he had left earlier. We paid something for it, a little bit of a shock, we paid something for it in terms of points.”

Bonucci had a similar thing to say and has revealed that Juventus tried to play on an individual basis during Ronaldo’s time at the club, They were more concerned about the striker’s chances for scoring goals and helping the team.

Bonucci said:

“It’s absolutely true [playing more as a team]. In the recent past, we had lost this characteristic from Juve, we were playing with a great champion like CR7 and we wanted to put him in a position to always do well, thinking he could solve all the matches.”

It is true that Juventus struggled to cope with the loss of Ronaldo during their initial few months of this season. They lost crucial points in Serie A but have now been able to drag themselves back. They still linger at 7th place in the current league standings and Allegri has a huge amount of work to do to stabilize the team.

They have been performing well in the Champions League and already have nine points in their past three matches. They even defeated the previous winner Chelsea and are showing good progress.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are also somewhat closely following this deadly concept of getting too much dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo.

The team’s overall involvement matters and for that, they have to play more as a team. Overdependency will hurt, just look at Barcelona without Messi.
