Christian Eriksen has expressed his happiness in playing for Manchester United and also admitted that the club’s atmosphere is comparable to that of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The Danish playmaker, who joined the Red Devils this summer on a free transfer, has been among the top performers for Erik ten Hag. Despite playing in a deeper role for the Red Devils, the former Tottenham player has been excellent in the middle of the field.
Eriksen has now admitted that he had thought of leaving Spurs for Manchester United, but the move never materialised since he wasn’t looking to make such a change at the time.
His football career came to an end when he had a heart attack during the Euros last year, after which he left Tottenham Hotspur to join Inter Milan. Eriksen, though, made an inspiring comeback to football by joining Brentford for the final six months of the previous campaign. Despite having a strong run with the Bees, he decided not to sign a contract extension with them and instead joined Man United.
While speaking with SkySports, Eriksen has now revealed that Manchester United is one of the clubs along with Barcelona and Real Madrid, where the vibe hits really differently.
“Yea 100 per cent. 100 per cent. Also, the thing about the club, how big it is. It’s for everyone; how many people following it? How much the media attention is. Everything is just bigger”
The Danish midfielder has been a revelation for United since signing as a free agent.
It was the ideal situation for both the player who wanted to return to playing at the highest level of football and the squad that sorely needed a creative presence in the middle of the field. Eriksen will now be back in Qatar with his national side as they attempt to build on a strong Euros campaign and prove to the rest of the world that they belong at the very highest level.
The former Spurs star is essential to the way United play, and so they will be hoping that he has a fantastic World Cup and returns fit, and ready to go for the rest of the season.
