In the first Group D encounter, Denmark was unable to overcome a resolute Tunisia as both the sides accepted a dull draw.
As stated by Statman Dave, Christian Eriksen put on a great showing with 91% passing accuracy and provided five chances (the most by a player in this World Cup). The midfielder kept the team together and dominated most of the battles in the middle of the field.
However, Tunisia was equally strong with their defensive duties. Denmark had chances of their own but they were not clinical in the final third.
With more than 63% possession and five shots on target, the European team should have buried the game in the first-half but Tunisia goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen had other plans as he saved a number of shots. Manchester United starlet Hannibal Mejbri got the chance to feature for the African side late in the second-half.
Eriksen has been the reason behind United’s midfield stability and all eyes we’re on him in this match.
Although Denmark were held onto a dull draw, the midfielder will be proud of his performances for both, club and country. After all the Danish star has made a strong comeback from the cardiac arrest he suffered back in 2020. The World Cup has already given us major surprises with Saudi Arabia defeating Argentina and now, Denmark being held by Tunisia.
At this stage, every single nation are worthy of winning matches and even the strongest nation will be careful of these tricky fixtures.
