Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has heaped praise on manager Erik Ten Hag for turning around the team’s fortunes this season.
This season, the 31-year-old has played a significant role for the squad, appearing in 32 games across all competitions. During the FA Cup game against Reading in January, he suffered a nasty injury that sidelined him for a number of weeks.
The Dane’s inability to play this season had been feared, but he made a fantastic recovery to make a substitute cameo against Everton at the weekend.
Eriksen will now look to be a significant contributor for United as they prepare for an important stretch of games this month.
While speaking to the club’s official website, the Danish midfielder lauded his manager for the way he has developed his team this season. Eriksen said:
“He’s brought discipline in football terms, and ideas. His ideas are being imprinted in the players, compared to the beginning.”
“Looking at them now, people know what they’re doing on the pitch. So, I think he’s done the structure, the discipline and then of course, his idea is just fun football to play.”
Former Ajax manager Ten Hag has made a positive adjustment to life at United. The 53-year-old has no fear about making key decisions. When Cristiano Ronaldo was not playing properly, he dropped him without thinking twice.
In addition, the Dutchman dropped Marcus Rashford as a result of his carelessness in attending a team meeting and kept Harry Maguire on the bench because of his poor performances in United’s opening two games.
Ten Hag has demonstrated that if discipline is broken, no one will be spared from punishment. And the outcome is there for all to see. The Red Devils won the Carabao Cup to break their trophy drought. They have a solid chance to qualify for the Champions League the next year.
Given that they are still in the running for the FA Cup and Europa League, they have a great opportunity of earning more trophies before the season ends.
