Christian Eriksen’s Denmark team have been knocked out of the World Cup

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Denmark have been knocked out of the World Cup after an underwhelming display against Australia.

Christian Eriksen’s Danish team were heavy favourites to top their group. However, they have been made to rott at the bottom of their respective group after gaining just one point in three games.

Australia has leapfrogged Denmark to finish at the second spot, whereas France have topped the group even after losing the final group match against Tunisia by a 1-0 scoreline.

Christian Eriksen’s team were expected to make it to the round of 16 clash, after their heroic display in the Euros last year. They lost the semi-final tie against England in extra time but their performance in major European Championships made them the underdogs for this World Cup campaign.

However, they grabbed just one point in comparison to Australia’s six. On the other side, Tunisia put in a brave show against France even after they ended in the third spot.

United wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri played for just 10 minutes in the match but his presence in the squad is a positive sign for the player. The United loanee will return to Championship side Birmingham.

Eriksen will return to Carrington training base after a short break. United will resume their activities in three weeks time as they face Burnley in the fourth round if the Carabao Cup.
