Following the completion of his transfer from Manchester United to Paris Saint Germain earlier this week, Ander Herrera has paid a tribute to the United faithful, thanking them for their support over the years.
Although Herrera was keen on remaining at Old Trafford, his contract with Manchester United had come to an end and negotiations over a new deal had hit a standstill. The 29-year-old ended his five-year stint at the Theatre Of Dreams as his contract expired and then decided to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer.
Herrera signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint Germain with weekly earnings of around £350,000. But after spending half a decade at Old Trafford and winning the FA Cup, League Cup and the Europa League with the Red Devils, Herrera had a special place in his heart for the United faithful and thanked them on his Instagram message.
The Spanish footballer posted a lovely farewell post on social media, “Thanks to all United fans that are wishing me the best in my new chapter. You are still supporting me even when I am not at the club anymore. Thanks a lot from my heart, I have no words.”
Herrera also touched upon the fans at Paris Saint Germain and remembered the clash against the Ligue 1 club at Old Trafford saying he was impressed with the fans from the French capital, “During the Champions League match at Old Trafford, the Paris supporters that were present were incredible. They sang, pushed the team throughout the entire match. That was something that really stayed with me.”
