Mason Greenwood has lately mad eth right-wing spot his own, especially after the restart of football in June, because of his great performances. The Red Devils have been in the lookout of a right-winger even though Greenwood has been successful in the position. In his latest talk with Manchester Evening News, United legend Andy Cole has said that Greenwood will relish the competition from Sancho if he signs for United.
The Red Devils had reportedly prioritized the signing of a right-winger this summer, with their main target as Sancho’s deal reportedly being halted for the while. Many people believe, if United sign Sancho, the progress of Mason Greenwood might be hindered as the youngster will see more time on the bench. But former United striker Andy Cole has said Greenwood must be happy with the challenge and accept it with open arms.
Cole said: “For me, 100 per cent, I was always more than happy to have competition. Competition for me is a big thing, you can’t go into any game thinking ‘I’m comfortable’. If you’re comfortable, you start to knock off a little bit.” Cole himself played with the likes of Sherringham, Yorke and Solskjaer in the squad fighting for the No.9 spot.
He also added about Greenwood, as he said “He’s a kid and as a kid even more so you feel more threat. If things are going well and they bring someone else in, as a kid you always want to show that little bit more. I’ve said about Mason before that he’s got a massive future ahead of him, massive future, he’s a real talent.”
United surely need a right-winger this summer, and Sancho has been linked with the club for a long time and transfer might happen sooner rather than later with the English international himself being known to be keen on signing for the Old Trafford giants in the near future.
