Coventry City vs Manchester United: Predicted line-up | FA Cup 2023-24

Coventry City will look to continue their historic run when they face English giants Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday.

The Championship side is the only non-Premier League surviving this season. They have not played in this competition since winning it in 1987.

It is also the club’s only major trophy in their history. Meanwhile, Man Utd have lifted the FA Cup on twelve occasions with their last successful campaign coming in 2016.

They were defeated by Man City in the finals last season. History books favour the Red Devils as they have emerged victorious in six of their past seven matches against their semi-final foes. Altogether United have won 46 games whereas Coventry have 23 victories.

Coventry City are without Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Milan van Ewijk, Jamie Allen and Matt Godden. Whereas Erik ten Hag’s side has a long list with Tyrell Malacia,  Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof sidelined with injuries.

Scott McTominay, Jonny Evans and Anthony Martial remain doubtful for the clash. They will hope to have McTominay and Evans fit as they are short of defensive options.

United have been unable to preserve their momentum in the PL as they drew against Brentford last week. The results aren’t favouring them due to their poor performances on the field.

Their chances of securing Champions League football next season look slim and they need to make sure that they win the FA Cup to bring some relief to a disastrous season.

The Red Devils will be facing a tough opponent in either Chelsea or Man City in the finals if they progress past this round. Winning this title might be the only positive thing for the Old Trafford outfit.

For the game against Coventry, we expect Andre Onana to start in front of the nets. Ten Hag will stick with the same defensive options in Diogo Dalot, Willy Kambwala, Harry Maguire and Aaron-Wan Bissaka.

Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo might partner in midfield alongside attacking midfielder and captain, Bruno Fernandes. Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford could be the favoured options upfront.
