However, the Everton fan’s mother has since gone public with her family’s side of the tale, saying Ronaldo’s actions seemed like an “attack” on her teenage son.
After Everton’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Goodison Park, footage of Ronaldo knocking the device to the ground began to spread. As Ronaldo proceeded down the tunnel, a young fan-recorded video of a cut on the player’s leg on his phone.

Her mother Kelly explained the entire incident to the Liverpool Echo:
“You can see by the bruise that he’s made contact. I just can’t believe I’m talking about it. I was crying, I was shaken up, Jake was in complete shock – he’s autistic and he’s got dyspraxia as well, so he didn’t really digest what was happening until he’s come home now. He’s really upset about it and it’s completely put him off going to the game again.”
Kelly revealed a bruise on her son’s hand in images she shared with the Echo. Her son, who was attending his first football game, was “very shocked” by the occurrence, and she was “shook up” as well.
Police have currently launched an investigation on Cristiano Ronaldo’s alleged phone smashing incident.
