According to a report by The Mirror, Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to stay at Manchester United next season. After getting over the recent losses, the 37-year-old has now opted to complete the second year of his contract with the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United this summer after three years with Juventus in Italy and nine years with Real Madrid before that. The Portuguese is desperate to equal Paco Gento’s record of six European Cup victories. He has a total of five to his name up until now.
And if it’s going to happen at United, it’ll have to wait until next season, as the Premier League club was knocked out of the Champions League this week by Atletico Madrid. Cristiano did not score or assist in his team’s 1-1 draw in the first leg in Madrid before losing 1-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
After scoring just one goal in his previous eight Premier League games, Ronaldo silenced his critics with a sensational hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur, which also made him the highest-scoring FIFA player of all time, surpassing Josef Bican’s record.

Despite a magnificent start in front of the Old Trafford crowd, the Portuguese striker returned to Man United for a second term in the summer, and things swiftly changed as results went from terrible to embarrassing under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.
This season, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 18 goals in 33 appearances for Manchester United, showing that despite his age, he is still a lethal goal scorer. But United’s next manager will have to figure out how to use him without affecting the team’s approach, which will be the most difficult part of all.
After clashing with Ralf Rangnick on several occasions, the Sporting Lisbon academy graduate is said to be looking forward to working with a new, elite-level coach.
