According to Fabrizio Romano, Cristiano Ronaldo did not take part in the first preseason training on Monday. The club allowed him to take a leave owing to family reasons.
Manager Erik ten Hag granted United’s international players an additional week off before they reported to Carrington to begin their preseason schedule.
However, Ronaldo has been given a long rest. The team is scheduled to depart on Friday to begin their pre-season tour of Australia and Thailand.
The Portuguese striker has clearly informed the board that he intends to leave the club this summer. He is eager to compete in the Champions League and is not sure of United’s chances of winning any major trophy next season.

Currently, Napoli, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea are interesting in signing him. Erik ten Hag had earlier said that Ronaldo is a part of his plans and United wouldn’t sell him this summer.
After failing to land Darwin Nunez for Liverpool this summer and learning that losing Ronaldo would leave the Dutchman with just Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to lead the line. A move for a striker could be on the cards in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia has finished his second medical test at the Carrington facility. The 22-year-old is expected to be the first player signed by Erik Ten Hag and could travel to Bangkok with the team on Friday.
