As reported by the Daily Mail, Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back against former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, who talked about the Portuguese star’s return to Old Trafford.
Through Instagram, the Portuguese striker gave a befitting reply to his former teammate.
Rooney was a guest on Sky Sports’ MNF for their coverage of Arsenal’s Premier League defeat at Crystal Palace, and the ex-England captain was asked about the impact of Cristian Ronaldo’s move to Manchester United.

For which he said:
“He’s scored, he’s scored important goals in the Champions League games early on in the season. He scored the hat-trick against Tottenham. But I think if you’re looking to the future of the club, you have to go with younger, hungry players to do their best to lift Manchester United over these next two or three years.”
“And obviously Cristiano is getting on a bit. He certainly isn’t the player he was when he was in his 20s. And that happens, that’s football. He’s a goal threat but I think the rest of the game they need more, they need young, hungry players.”
This season, the Portuguese star has received a lot of criticism from commentators and fans alike, with many believing that his arrival has pushed United backward.
The 37-year-old has scored some important goals for the Red Devils this season, but he has not been consistent and, due to his age, lacks the work rate expected in the modern game.

But this is just one side of the story, there are statistics that also prove that Ronaldo has been working tirelessly for the team and his absence was clearly felt against Leicester, where the team failed to score from easy chances. He is the club’s top scorer this season and he doesn’t seem to be the problem at all.
Ronaldo was clearly offended by Rooney’s remarks, responding to one of the Englishman’s Instagram photos with the phrase “two jealous.”
This still appears to be petty behaviour from a 37-year-old striker, given Rooney is allowed to share his opinion on the subject and did not say anything particularly objectionable.
Ronaldo and Rooney’s relationship has already been strained after the Portuguese star appealed to a referee to dismiss Rooney when the two met at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and it’s possible that the feud was never totally buried and is again reappearing.
