Cristiano Ronaldo scores his first ever Europa League goal

As reported by The Sun, Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first ever Europa League goal against Sheriff. The veteran forward’s dispatched an easy penalty and doubled the Red’s lead over the Moldovan football club.

This is a rather surprising statistic as we all know that the Portuguese star has already ruled the Champions League with 140 goals to his name. The 37-year-old scored his 699th club goal by making it count against Sheriff, however he will now be aiming for the 700th club career goal.

With such crazy numbers, it’s rather amusing that his goal last night was his first in the Europa League. It is due to the fact that Ronaldo has never played in the Europa League in his career before.

Erik ten Hag had decided to hand him another start after he was given the responsibility to lead the line against Real Sociedad. The former Real Madrid player was at his best again as he made countless runs in the opposition box and was very active throughout the game.

It was Ronaldo’s first goal of the season and it ended his worst goal drought in over 16 years of his career.

The fans would hope that it will give boost the striker’s confidence ahead of a tight Premier League schedule in October.
