As revealed by Pele’s official Instagram account, Cristiano Ronaldo received the Three Hearts Award from the Pele Foundation for his “excellence on and off the field.”
The Brazilian legend’s foundation has praised the Portuguese striker for his services in child welfare. The Three Hearts Award, also known as the ‘Três Coraçes’ award in Brazil, is named after the local municipality in the South American nation called “Três Coraçes,” which is where Pele was born.
A player, “inspiration” and a nonprofit organisation, will each receive an annual award from the Pele Foundation. This will be done in order to honour their services to child welfare in various parts of the world.
Ronaldo took home the player’s Three Hearts Award on Tuesday for his immense contribution towards the cause. The Portuguese skipper received praise from the legend himself for his excellence on and off the field underlined by his endless commitment to children’s causes.
In this regard, Grassroot Soccer won the award for the best non-profit organisation. Pele praised them for their role in adolescent health over the previous 20 years. The disaster Relief Nonprofit organization named Global Empowerment Mission received the third prize for its inspiring work with Ukrainian refugees.
