The Daily Mail has reported that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, and his agent, Jorge Mendes, met with representatives from Bayern Munich last week.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the Portugal international spoke about the team and the management. His future at the Old Trafford side, therefore, appears to be in doubt.
The 37-year-old’s agent had offered him to the Bavarian giants during the summer transfer window. He also had a chance to sign with other teams, including Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon, and Napoli.
Ronaldo chose to remain in Manchester, though. Due to the forward’s salary, Bayern was reluctant to make a move for him in the summer of 2022. However, the Bundesliga’s juggernauts are currently rethinking their approach to the Portuguese sensation. The German team is concerned about Sadio Mane’s fitness and uncertain about Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s future.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner hopes to once more compete in the Champions League. The German side has always made it to the UCL and next year, Bayern will play Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 clashes.
Under Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo has lost his starting spot at United. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are two players the Dutch boss has chosen over the Portuguese.
Both the player have played well whenever they have been given the chance to impress. Unfortunately, the 37-year-old has had trouble scoring goals this year.
The club would be prudent to let Ronaldo go during the upcoming transfer window. The player clearly does not want to be a part of the Ten Hag project. It seems that the Portuguese will be heading towards the exit door in January.
