Crooks praises Solksjaer for sticking with David De Gea

Manchester United director Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been applauded for disregarding calls to drop goalkeeper David de Gea when he was experiencing a helpless run of structure.

The Spaniard appears to return to his best right now after another fine presentation and a clean sheet against West Brom at the end of the week, with Garth Crooks naming him in his Premier League group of the week. Garth Crooks praised Ole Gunnar Solksjaer for his decision of sticking with De Gea.

“The Manchester United keeper has taken some stick and from those who should have known better. There was even a time when some pundits thought he should have been dropped. For whom exactly? Someone with less experience?  let’s throw some other goalkeeper into the lions’ den so we can destroy him after a couple of games, shall we?

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done well to ignore those overtures and stick with one of the few genuine world-class goalkeepers in the game. His point-blank save from West Brom’s Conor Townsend was crucial to Saturday’s victory.”

For a long time, it would have appeared to be insane to try and think about dropping De Gea, who was without a doubt one of the best ‘attendants on the planet for quite a while.

In any case, he began to make some messy mistakes last season and the prior year, and the development of promising adolescent Dean Henderson will have put him under a great deal of strain to improve. Hooligans, nonetheless, trust Solskjaer made the best choice in staying with De Gea as opposed to tuning in to automatic responses of savants who were requiring an adjustment in that position.

David De Gea has been the main shot-stopper for United for many years and has even saved United’s blushes in many seasons through his outstanding saves. Yet even after that, his recent performances have kept him under heavy criticism. Henderson was brought back for the same reason, as an option for a De Gea. Sergio Romero was always a great backup. He has been consistent whenever he has been handed the opportunity to start for the team.

Solksjaer has been defending his starters always because of their quality to turn things around. Solksjaer always backed De Gea because he knew just one or two seasons cant define a player. It is rightly said ‘A Legend is always a legend.’
