Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester United Match Report | EPL 2019/20

Manchester United FC look to march on in the Premier League as they are now 19-games unbeaten in all competitions. The Red Devils scored a couple against Crystal Palace and kept a precious clean sheet as well, with a rather underwhelming performance. For United, Rashford and Martial were on the score-sheet as both players played a huge role in pulling off a victory.

The Red Devils are now placed fifth in the Premier League table, equal on points with fourth-placed Leicester City. The Foxes are ahead on goal difference as they won 2-0 against Sheffield United earlier today. They face Tottenham next which will be a tricky game and United must be ready to capitalize if Leicester City slip up.

Today’s performance was rather underwhelming and dull, partly due to the absence of Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic. Shaw has endured an ankle injury against Southampton and was rested for the FA Cup semi-final weekend clash against Chelsea. Matic orchestrates the play for United and Shaw provide the much-needed drive down the left side of the field.

The Eagles started well today and threatened De Gea’s goal as the Spaniard came up with a couple of good saves. The Red Devils were very slow to start but scored the first goal with a calm finish from Marcus Rashford. Crystal Palace scored in the second half with Jordan Ayew but the goal was chucked off after Ayew was deemed offside by VAR.

Mctominay replaced Matic today in the starting-11, but he was not as effective as Matic, because of his lack of distribution. Which saw Matic come on in the hour-mark, to help United keep possession and help Pogba go higher up the pitch. Even Fernandes played poorly looking at his high standards, as he gave away the ball too many times for the liking.

The Red Devils face Chelsea with less than 48 hours of recovery in the FA Cup semi-final tie. The semi-final will be a high-voltage encounter between the sides as they lock horns for the fourth time this season. United are on a 19-game unbeaten streak in all competitions and will look to make it 20 against the Blues.
