The Manchester United winger has been in lethal form in front of goal over the past few weeks and received praise from Wales’s manager Ryan Giggs after netting the winner against Belarus in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Daniel James has been in great form this campaign already scoring four goals for his new club Manchester United after arriving from Swansea City in a £15 million deal this summer. The United top scorer has carried that rich vein of goalscoring form into the international games as well as he scored a sublime goal for Wales to help them in their qualifying for the Euro 2020.
With just 17 minutes on the clock, the 21-year-old attacker cut inside from the left and scored a beauty against opposition Belarus which was incidentally the only goal of the game. And Wales’ manager Ryan Giggs was tempted to give James a rest but claimed that because he is in such good form it’s better for him to showcase his talents even if there were only a few spectators in the Cardiff City Stadium.
The former Manchester United midfielder had only praise for James and said, “It was a difficult one with Dan whether to rest him, but he wanted to play. When you are in form like his, players just want to play and keep scoring. He gets fans off their feet. Every time he gets the ball the fans are looking for him to do something. Regarding the fans, I would like to thank fans who did turn up because it’s not easy. The schools have gone back and it’s difficult to get to games. But I think they would have enjoyed it tonight and enjoyed Dan’s performance as well as the team performance.”
