According to a report from the Mirror, Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has received a contract boost as manager Erik ten Hag is hesitant to spend a significant amount on a new shot-stopper.
De Gea, who has been with the club for 12 seasons, was previously rumoured to be leaving when his current £375,000-per-week contract expires on June 30.
The Spaniard declined an offer to reduce his salary to £200,000 per week, but United might reconsider his contract situation as Ten Hag has other priorities in the transfer market.
The club currently has a pre-sales budget of £120 million, which could potentially increase by £100 million through player sales. Despite this, the manager is inclined to retain De Gea at the club.
Ten Hag is not keen on making a substantial investment in a new goalkeeper as he focuses on signing a proven striker. He is also looking to strengthen the midfield and defence.

De Gea had an impressive season, keeping 25 clean sheets overall, with 17 of them coming in the Premier League, which earned him the Golden Glove award.
While he made outstanding saves throughout the campaign, he was also responsible for four errors that led to opposition goals. De Gea appeared vulnerable when facing long-range shots, notably conceding Ilkay Gundogan’s winner in the FA Cup final.
These factors provide solid reasons for United to consider finding a successor, but the ultimate decision lies with the manager, who prioritizes strengthening other key positions.
It is possible that United may try to persuade De Gea to stay by offering an improved contract proposal, although it is unlikely that they will maintain his current salary.
