De Gea was part of the 2012-13 squad that lasted lifted the Premier League title for Manchester United under the guidance of Sir Alex Fergusson. He is looking to replicate that and this year Manchester United has a very good chance.
He told United Review: “I’m trying to lead and be a leader. The young lads might look at me and see I have been here a long time, and played a lot of games, and I think the most important thing is to show your experience on the pitch and in the games by trying to help the team.”
At the age of 30 and with a lot of games under his belt De Gea has certainly established himself as one of the veterans in the club. He has proved his mettle time and time again.
De Gea may have had a few patches where things did not seem to go his way but he always kept his own and has been seen a pretty rough transition phase at Manchester United when they were vigorously shifting from one coach to another.
Dean Henderson has now club to his parent club after witnessing a stellar season at Sheffield United last season and his former club is finding it hard to replace the talented youngster.
All the main players in the team seem to be on the same page with the management as they churn out results day in and day out. All the top players and youngsters are in fine form and their current form is a testament to this fact. De Gea has been in the dressing room for a really long time and can have quite a positive impact on teenagers. His desire to be a leader is something that is really good for the player and the club in general.
