Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea was praised by Erik ten Hag for recording his eighth Premier League clean sheet of the year.
In the end, it did not matter that United was not at their best against AFC Bournemouth since they were still able to easily defeat their Premier League opponents on Wednesday night.
Casemiro and Luke Shaw gave the Red Devils the lead early on, while Marcus Rashford scored a third for the hosts late in the game.
Ten Hag was not entirely satisfied with his team after the game, but he lauded De Gea for several outstanding saves.
De Gea has not allowed a goal in 299 minutes of Premier League play, and the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth was his eighth clean sheet of the year.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the gaffer said:
“He performed really well and today he had some brilliant saves. And I think one of the reasons we have so many clean sheets is David de Gea. I think over a couple of games [he made] more great saves, I remember against West Ham, his great save just before full-time.”
“In general we don’t concede so many chances but today we had some clear chances against us in the second-half.”
Since defeating Arsenal 3-1 at home on September 4, United has not allowed a single goal at home in the Premier League while holding clean sheets against Newcastle, Tottenham, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth.
Newcastle is the only team that has avoided losing at Old Trafford in the league since United’s lone home loss this season, which came against Brighton on the opening weekend. United face Manchester City in an exciting derby match next week.
