Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea has insisted that Manchester United must win games like their 1-1 home draw with fellow English rival Arsenal on Monday night at Old Trafford.
United have taken only nine points after their first seven games of the 2019-20 Premier League season under Norwegian boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which has incidentally marked their worst start to a campaign ever since the Premier League era.
Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay’s first-ever goal at Old Trafford put the home side in front just before the half time whistle but VAR was used to award Unai Emery’s Arsenal’s an equalizer in the second half.
United center-back Axel Tuanzebe’s made the error which cost United, the defender giving away possession to allow Bukayo Saka to set up Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the leveling goal.
De Gea made a fine double save from Saka and Matteo Guendouzi in the first half but had no real chance of keeping out the 30-year-old Aubameyang.
But the 28-year-old keeper has demanded better from his teammates stating that they should be looking to win those type of games, De Gea told Sky Sports, “Well, it was a big mistake for us. We gave away an important goal, the game was well balanced. They had a few chances, we had chances. We had good chances, of course, they had too, but the better ones I think were for us. It is time to look forward and try to win every game. This is Manchester United, so we have to win these games. The lads have to react and play better than they are doing.”
