Securing Victory with Another Outstanding Performance
De Gea’s success in the Golden Glove race is a result of his exceptional performance against Bournemouth. The 1-0 win marked his 17th clean sheet of the season, surpassing his closest competitor, Liverpool’s Allison, who has 14 clean sheets.
With just one league game remaining for Liverpool, De Gea is assured of claiming the award. The shot-stopper was happy to claim the title, as he said:
“I’ve helped the team as much as I can, keeping some good clean sheets and you know when you keep clean sheets, we are closer to winning games and today, we keep another one, a big one and a massive three points.”
“We are closer to finishing in the top four and that’s very good for us. I think it’s been a great season for me, some very good teams in the league, some very good goalkeepers and it’s great.”
De Gea faced challenges throughout the season, including notable errors against Sevilla and West Ham United.
However, he showed resilience by bouncing back and delivering outstanding performances. His ability to learn from mistakes and maintain consistency highlights his efforts throughout the season.

De Gea’s future at United is uncertain, given his inconsistency while playing from the back. This doesn’t align with the possession-based style manager Erik Ten Hag wants to implement.
However, ongoing contract negotiations indicate that both parties are working towards finding a solution. While adjustments may be necessary, the club knows De Gea’s value and is committed to reaching an agreement with the player.
