De Gea reveals Manchester United’s dressing room is buzzing with renewed confidence

Tuesday’s late and dramatic win over Wolves took Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to second in the Premier League table, just three points adrift of table-toppers Liverpool FC with a game in hand, and David de Gea admits that the Red Devils dressing room now boasts of an increases level of confidence.

Marcus Rashford’s stoppage-time strike clinched a crucial three points for the hosts, with Solskjaer’s side looking to continue upon a great set of results of late to mount a serious title challenge to Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside Reds.

De Gea, who himself was in flying form during the midweek victory over the Midlands-based visitors to Old Trafford, revealed that the Red Devils harboured a winning mentality week in and week out as Solskjaer’s men extended their unbeaten run to as many as six games across league football.

‘I think we now have a winning mentality and this is very important for the team,’ the Spaniard said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

‘All of us want to win, we keep trying until the end. It was great to see the team trying to score until the last minute and then we scored a goal so it’s perfect for us.

‘At the moment we feel very strong, very confident so now we have to start 2021 like we finished this year – with confidence, strong, with a winning mentality and like we play a [cup] final every game so let’s go for it.’

Liverpool FC’s failure to secure an away win against Newcastle United in the final game of the midweek fixture list presents Manchester United with a spectacular opportunity to move into joint first spot should they come out on top when taking on Aston Villa later this week.
