Dean Henderson likely to take a big U-turn on his United future

As reported by The Mirror, Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Dean Henderson could take a huge U-turn on his future after holding talks with manage Ralf Rangnick last week.

The manager had a conversation with the 24-year-old shot-stopper and he told him straight that he will not allow him to leave the club in January.

The major reason behind Henderson’s lack of playing time is David de Gea’s eye-catching performances. His recent saves against Brentford were an example of his rich run of form.  The Spaniard has already made more saves than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League (70 saves and counting).

All these factors are making life difficult for Dean Henderson who is mostly been benched by Ralf Rangnick. Henderson was pushing for an exit and clubs like Tottenham were ready to offer him a lucrative deal.

However, Ralf Rangnick has now rejected his transfer proposal and he views him as an important member of his squad.

Dean Henderson was unable to play for England in the European Championship as he suffered from Covid-19. He couldn’t recover back on time and instead, Ramsdale was called up for England.

During Solskjaer’s reign, Henderson was not much fit for the training sessions and a change in the managerial position meant that Rangnick had important decisions to make regarding who will start.

David de Gea was given the nod to play regularly ahead of Dean Henderson. The English goalkeeper needs to play more often if he wants to get a chance to feature for England in the World Cup this year. Given Gareth Southgate’s admiration for him, he could still play for England even if he is not regular for Manchester United.

Even if Henderson stays this season, nothing can be made up regarding his future when the summer transfer window approaches in five months’ time.
