Depay To Return To Manchester United?

The latest reports have claimed Premier League giants Manchester United have the option to bring Lyon superstar Memphis Depay back to Old Trafford as Lyon’s Sporting Director Juninho has stated.

Depay joined Manchester United from Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven back in 2015 but could find the net seven times in 53 appearances across all competitions and he was rather unable to live up to the high expectations at the Theatre of Dreams.

For about a year and a half, Depay was unhappy with life in England but that disappointing spell came to an end when he joined Lyon for a fee in the region of £16million back in the January transfer window in 2017. And the 25-year-old winger seems to have regained his confidence in the Ligue 1 as Depay has already managed seven goals in 10 top-flight appearances for Lyon along with four goals in the Champions League.

Depay’s performances have drawn attention from several top clubs in Europe and Lyon’s sporting director Juninho has opened up on a possible exit for the Netherlands forward in the winter transfer window. But the Brazilian has admitted that Manchester United have a first priority to sign Depay even though the attacker is happy at Lyon.

While speaking to reporters, Juninho said, “Manchester has a priority if several clubs line up to buy him, But we have not received any offers so far. He is really happy right now in Lyon. We will discuss a contract extension by the end of the year.”

Depay’s current deal with Lyon expires at the end of next term and the Red Devils are in dire need of a goalscoring forward. Hopefully,  United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is able to lure in the Dutchman to bolster his front line as Depay already has the experience of playing in the Premier League,
