Dermot Gallagher has been called time and time again to clarify the rules when VAR has made some of the other questionable decisions and he voices his opinion once again on The Football Show with Sky Sports.
Football is a contact sport and everyone is entitled to a different opinion but VAR has come under the scanner time and time again for not having thoroughly or properly examined a situation before a decision was made.
The Everton Vs Liverpool match earlier on in the season when Van Djik and Thiago sustained long term injuries was also another highly controversial match that brought VAR under a lot of flax for its lack of clarity in different situations. Many of the top-flight managers have also shown their dismay when decisions have not gone in their favour in pivotal moments.
Dermot Gallagher has his say on the whole red card incident and believed that the decision taken by VAR wasn’t necessarily the right one as it reduced Southampton to nine men as they had to face further humiliation with a thumping 9-0 defeat.
🗣 "I didn't think it was a penalty."

Dermot Gallagher says he thinks Jan Bednarek was unfortunate to concede a penalty and be given a red card for his challenge on Martial last night.

He also stated that in his opinion it should have been a penalty either and I’m sure that many people would look to contest that claim but that again brings us to a simple question ‘How do you differentiate a clear and obvious foul from one that isn’t?’ A different referee will have a different opinion of the match and this will only create a further divide as one does not have a clear sense of objectivity when it comes to making important decisions.
