France national team coach Didier Deschamps has praised Manchester United star Christian Eriksen‘s technical quality and longevity after his recent performances.
The Dane, who will compete against Les Bleus on Sunday night in the Nations League, has started all six of United’s Premier League games this season and has also appeared in the club’s both the Europa League games this season.
After having a heart arrest at Euro 2020, Eriksen obviously now plays with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator. Still, he has swiftly returned to his best and has quickly won over the supporters at Old Trafford.
Eriksen, a former playmaker for Tottenham, is still active in midfield at the age of 30, and Deschamps thinks the midfielder’s work on and off the ball and how frequently he has played, has surprised him.
As reported by the Mirror, he said:
“There is an attacking player who even surprised me, and not just because of what had happened that could have been dramatic for him, and obviously it’s Christian Eriksen. But the ability that he shows with his club in the position he plays, because he has always been someone who has a remarkable technical ability.”
“But to play so frequently for his club in the midfield, to see the volume of games he plays, this ability even to recover is impressive. And he has always had the ability to score goals, to make other players score – he has always had that.”
Raphael Varane, a teammate of Eriksen’s at United, was similarly inspired by the Dane and thinks experience is only one of many valuable traits he has brought to the Red Devils’ squad.
Eriksen has excelled as a centre midfielder for United under Erik ten Hag, guiding them to four straight Premier League victories. He was also voted the club’s Player of the Month for September.
The 30-year-old joined United on a free transfer but is yet to score for them. However, he has assisted in both the Premier League and the Europa League, and his most recent goal came against Croatia in the Nations League.
