Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has advised Darwin Nunez to join Old Trafford this summer.
Nunez is one of Europe’s most wanted players after a successful season with Benfica, where he scored 34 goals in 40 games across all competitions. The Uruguayan attacker is valued at roughly €70 million and is being pursued by a slew of European giants.
Manchester United, for example, are looking for a new striker to bolster their attacking line, with Edinson Cavani due to leave the club this summer and Cristiano Ronaldo’s future uncertain.
Ralf Ragnick, Man Utd’s interim manager, has also emphasized the necessity for two new strikers heading into the summer season. Darwin Nunez may be a good match at Old Trafford, according to Forlan, who played for the Red Devils from 2002 to 2004.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Forlan said: “He is a player who has a lot of potentials and he could fit in at Manchester United. But obviously, everyone needs to have patience, although he is getting better with more and more experience. He would not be a bad signing for Manchester United and it would be nice to see him there.”
Nunez’s potential must be well known to United’s new manager Erik ten Hag, whose Ajax team was defeated by Benfica in the Champions League round of 16, with the Uruguayan striker scoring the deciding goal in the second leg.

Victor Osimhen, Christopher Nkunku, and Sebastien Haller have all been identified as potential striker targets for the summer.
However, Ten Hag would reportedly sign a young striker instead of going for an experienced one. The team already has a lot of aging players and they need a few fresh faces to lead the team.
