Diogo Dalot: My versatility is an advantage for the coach

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Diogo Dalot has talked about his impressive versatility and how he has improved over the years at Manchester United.

Diogo Dalot has been an improved player this season and his presence in the Portuguese team in the Euros was a gift to his hard work. Although he came as an optional player, his performance for Portugal showed that he has the capability to perform.

He was soon linked with a move to bigger clubs and it was even reported that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti had him on his transfer list. Although this is just the start of the new season, Diogo Dalot is aiming to play better for Manchester United.

While speaking in the Press conference, ahead of Portugal’s world cup qualifying games against Qatar and Luxembourg, Diogo Dalot said:

“I look at my versatility as an advantage. Not only for me, but I also believe that for the coaches it will be an advantage to have someone who can do two, three positions to give other options to the team. I see it as an opportunity, as a challenge, as something positive for me, which can help me, especially being able to play on the opposite side to the one I’m used to, with the opposite foot, it’s a big challenge for me and I accept it every time I have it and try to give my best and that’s my goal.”

“Knowing that it’s never easy to play in a team like United … I know I have the skills for that and to be able to compete every week, and that’s why I wanted to stay and accept the challenge of fighting for my space in Man United.”

His loan move to AC Milan last year has helped him learn more about his footwork. He will aim to play regularly for Manchester United and this season he has the perfect chance to make it happen.

Portugal could hand him more minutes to bring out his best form.
