According to The Mirror, Donny van de Beek, who is presently on loan at Everton from Manchester United, could be interested in signing permanently for Everton in the summer.
As he prepares to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current season, the midfielder has dropped indications about his next destination.
Donny van de Beek’s promising career has been tested the most in the previous 18 months. The midfielder established his reputation as part of a young Ajax side that advanced to the Champions League semi-finals, defeating Real Madrid and Juventus in the process. He was destined for great things in the future.
Things appeared to be on track when Manchester United agreed to pay £35 million for his services in the summer of 2020. Despite his early promising start at Old Trafford, Van de Beek was never able to establish his place in the starting XI and was mostly shifted to the bench.
Even his former manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not appear to trust the midfielder enough to start games.
In the summer, there were negotiations about a loan move, but Solskjaer rejected a late move to Everton because he wanted the Dutchman to stay at the club. The midfielder publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with being overlooked at times, and he later requested a loan move away from the club during the January transfer window.
After Solskjaer left, he did not play under new manager Ralf Rangnick, which prompted the midfielder to leave Old Trafford. Donny Van de Beek then signed a six-month contract with Everton, with the expectation that he will return to Manchester United next season.
And now, the Dutch midfielder has expressed his excitement with his fresh start at Goodison Park as he said:
“It’s like a new start. This gives me a lot of energy and, you know, if you see the way the club is on the table, they want to go up. Me also as a player, I want to go again to show what I can do. I think this combination is good.”
Everton is also expected to sign the Dutchman on a permanent basis. The midfielder’s performances in training and on the field have apparently impressed Frank Lampard. The former Chelsea manager will certainly agree of paying a decent sum to sign Donny this summer.
Manchester United is expected to demand at least £20 million in return for him. It will be interesting to see how things progress between these few months.
According to early indications, Everton and Donny Van de Beek’s relation looks smooth, and a permanent move may be beneficial to all parties involved.
