Manchester United boss Ed Woodward, according to Sky Sports, is unlikely to depart the club anytime soon after replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
In 2005, the 49-year-old joined the club and has been at the helm since then. He aided the Glazers’ rise to power and was present when Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. Woodward became the club’s vice-executive chairman after the renowned Scot retired from management.
Since Ferguson’s departure, though, he has been unable to lead the club to Premier League triumph. Jose Mourinho, David Moyes, and Louis van Gaal all failed, but the latter did win the UEFA Europa League.
In any case, a club of our stature should be actively fighting for major trophies. Despite the big expenditure in the summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to be the future of the club, but he was sacked by Woodward and the Glazers over the weekend following a dismal start to the season.
And now the club’s president has decided to postpone his departure. After supporters protested against the European Super League, he announced his departure in April. The removal of the Norwegian chief, on the other hand, may encourage Woodward to help the board to search for a permanent manager at the end of the season.
As the permanent manager will be signed only after the season ends, Ed Woodward may prefer to stay till the season ends and may leave once the club signs a permanent successor.
Ralf Rangnick has been named interim manager for a six-month duration, although a new manager might be in place soon. Mauricio Pochettino is said to be the favourite for a permanent job, as he plans to leave PSG.
He had a fantastic time in England with Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, and he would be interested in working on our project. Brendan Rodgers and Erik Ten Hag are potentially possible choices, although they are both committed to their respective clubs, Leicester City and Ajax.
Nonetheless, as he seeks his next management position, Woodward may stay at Old Trafford longer than supporters thought.
