Ed Woodward puts up six players for sale

Manchester United FC are one of the biggest clubs in the world and one of the wealthiest ones. Even during the time of the pandemic, the club ensured to pay its staff, without putting them on furlough. The club still has European ambition and will try to get the best players, but Woodward has put six players for sale to generate funds.

The pandemic has put all clubs into a difficult situation, and even Manchester United are feeling the heat. The Red Devils have been linked to a couple of great players like Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho, who won’t come cheap. Thus, to generate funds to these recruits, Ed Woodward has put up to six players for sale in summer.

The players that will reportedly be put for sale are Alexis Sanchez, Rojo, Lingard, Phil Jones, Smalling and Diogo Dalot. Out of these six players, Sanchez, Smalling and Rojo are already shipped out of the club on-loan. Sanchez is at Inter Milan, Smalling is plying his trade at AS Roma and Marcus Rojo is playing for his native Estudiantes.

Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling have already been linked to the clubs they are at for permanent moves. Both the players are not part of Solskjaer’s long term plans and will likely move on from Old Trafford. Smalling’s deal to AS Roma will be rather simpler than Sanchez’s transfer because of his super-high wage demands.

Marcus Rojo’s agent has also spoken up about his client’s wish to stay in his native Argentina and play for Estudiantes. Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones have been linked to moves in the Premier League and Championship as well, especially with West Ham. David Moyes is reportedly keen on getting both Jones and Lingard at West Ham if they manage to stay in Premier League.

Dalot is young and promising, but with Wan Bisakka, Shaw and Williams taking up the mantle, Dalot has lost his spot. With the emergence of Ethan Laird to the first-team squad, Dalot might find himself further down the pecking order. Manchester United will reportedly see a mass exodus in the summer to generate funds for their further recruits.
