Elon Musk is considering taking over Manchester United with a record bid

As reported by The Mirror, Elon Musk is one of the numerous parties considering making a formal offer for Manchester United as the deadline looms close.

The Red Devils’ owners, the Glazer family, announced their intention to sell the team last November, and the formal proposals must be received by Friday. The Raine Group will evaluate the offer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the richest man in Britain and CEO of INEOS, declared in January that he is making an effort to take over the club.

He is said to be up against Qatari investors as well as Saudi Arabian and American investors. An eye-catching update reveals that Musk, a lifelong United supporter, is keeping an eye on the situation with only a few days left until bids must be submitted.

The Mirror believes that the owner of Tesla and Twitter is debating whether the opportunity at Old Trafford is too excellent to pass up.

Musk, who is ranked as the second-richest person in the world by Forbes, would have no issue reaching the Glazers’ asking price thanks to his vast net worth of £157 billion.

Even though United’s American owners reportedly wanted between £6 billion and £8 billion to sell, it is thought that a price of up to £4.5 billion could be enough to complete the takeover.

The article says that many people who were interested had already shown interest and signed the necessary paperwork to get access to private information about the club. There are several businessmen headquartered in Saudi Arabia, and Musk might team up with one of them to lead the bid.

To commit to redeveloping Old Trafford, United’s next owners will probably need to have cash on hand—up to £2 billion, according to some estimations.

Musk shouldn’t have a problem with this, despite the fact that his net worth has decreased by £150 billion since November 2022 as a result of Tesla’s tumbling stock price.

So, it’s not clear if Musk will make an offer before the deadline on Friday, but the way he’s looking at the situation shows that he’s changed his mind and is now seriously thinking about buying the Red Devils.
