According to Emmanuel Petit, Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo‘s teammates want him to leave the club as soon as possible.
Last week, as United defeated Tottenham, Ronaldo stormed out down the tunnel in a huff after being denied his opportunity to play. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s refusal to enter the game as a replacement was later revealed by manager Erik ten Hag.
Following his absence against Chelsea on Saturday, Ronaldo has been forced to practise with the reserves, and numerous sources suggest he has been denied two weeks’ pay, or roughly £720,000.
However, according to Petit, the 37-year-old should leave the club and he also claimed that Chelsea is planning to sign the Portuguese international in January.
As reported by the Sun, the former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder said:
“He tires everyone: the supporters, his teammates… They don’t want him anymore in the locker room, he pollutes everyone so much. He has an exceptional career, when he stops we will all be unanimous in saying it, but his behaviour is so individualistic.”
“His message yesterday on social media. You know you don’t like what’s going on with your club, you can’t stand your coach Ten Hag anymore, you feel like you are disrespected for what you have done, but your status no longer exists!”
“You are no longer the same player, you have been demoted, you have suffered a downgrade, but you do not accept it because your ego is so oversized. Say it real! It can’t be defensible.”
However, looking at Roy Keane’s statements after the match against Tottenham, one may consider that both the legends are speaking exactly different words. United legend Keane insisted that Ten Hag and the club were wrong for Ronaldo’s unfair treatment, and even made a suggestion that the Portuguese should have been handled differently and not penalised as he was.
Keane continued to criticise other players, especially Antony, claiming that the latter had acted even worse when he went on strike at Ajax to secure a transfer to England.
However, most supporters will still feel let down by Ronaldo, and they have every right to believe that he should leave Old Trafford.
