According to the Metro, Eric Bailly is very eager to move on from Manchester United and join AS Roma this summer. In order to reunite with Jose Mourinho, Bailly would prefer to depart from Old Trafford.
The 46-cap Ivory Coast international was acquired by United from Villarreal in the summer of 2016 for £30 million. The centre-back was brought to Old Trafford by a former manager, Jose Mourinho.
However, the 28-year-old defender has never really made an impression at Manchester United. He has obviously struggled due to injuries, but overall, he hasn’t performed to the standards that were expected of him.
The Italian giants are now seeking a loan move for Bailly with a buyout clause, but Manchester United reportedly only wants £8.5 million for the Ivorian star. When compared to what the Red Devils paid for him six years prior, it would be a significant loss, but if Erik ten Hag wants to get rid of him, any sort of halfway money will do the job.
It’s extremely upsetting because Bailly possesses every quality required to excel at the highest level of the game. However, the 28-year-old lacks consistency and occasionally makes poor decisions.
At Old Trafford, the ex-Villarreal defender presently makes roughly £80,000 per week, so Ten Hag will benefit greatly from the release of those kinds of earnings this summer.
Eric Bailly leaving Manchester United during the summer transfer window appears to be a foregone conclusion. And it would come as absolutely no surprise if they worked together again at Roma.
