Eric Bailly was thought if as one of the most sought-after young defenders in the world when he arrived from Villareal. But unfortunately, his career hasn’t planned out the way he would have wanted it to, mostly because of long-term injuries. The Ivorian centre-back was reportedly offered to AC Milan last week by United, but the Italian club passed-up the chance to sign Bailly.
Eric Bailly, for most of the season, whenever he is fit, has played as the first backup centre-back at United. He has played only 10 games for the Red Devils this season, out of which only four have come in the Premier League. On his day, Bailly can be world-class but that day doesn’t come very often enough because of his dismal injury record.
United are looking to sell off their players to recruit new players this summer transfer window to compete in the Premier League. With Chris Smalling returning to United after a brief stint at AS Roma, the club tried to sell Bailly. But AC Milan have refused to sign the Ivorian, meaning he might stay at Old Trafford for another season.
The Red Devils will reportedly be very busy this summer transfer window and might be still keen on selling some of their defenders.
