Eric Baily Could Be Sold To AC Milan

According to the latest reports, AC Milan is looking to snap up a deal for Manchester United center-back Eric Baily in the summer transfer window to partner Alessio Romagnoli in the heart of their backline.

The Red half of Manchester are eager to improve on their sixth-place finish from last season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his work cut out for this summer to decide on which players he wants to recruit and offload. The 46-year-old Norwegian has already made a splash in the transfer market and completed deals for Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka until now with a few more arrivals set to make the core of his team a lot stronger and add depth.

However, Solskjaer also wants to offload a few players that will not be of any value to Manchester United over the next few seasons and Eric Baily is probably on that list. The 25-year-old central defender made the move to Old Trafford back in the summer of 2016 for a £30 million transfer deal from La Liga side Villarreal and was one of Jose Mourinho’s initial signing but has failed to make a big impact for the Premier League outfit over the past three years.

Baily has shown that he is fearless and can put in some crunching tackles when called upon on the pitch but his injury worries along with rashness have given Solskjaer second thoughts on whether he wants to keep the Ivorian at the club. Baily has only one more year left on his current contract with United and the Red Devils have to ponder on whether to sell him this summer and generate some revenue or lose him for free next season.

AC Milan is in need of a new central defender to partner Alessio Romagnoli at the San Siro and were eyeing a swoop for Liverpool’s Croatian star Dejan Lovren. But the Rossoneri were put off by Lovren’s £18 million price valuation. The Serie A side is now looking at cheaper options this summer and Baily is one of them.

Baily has failed to impress Solskjaer and is considered a liability at United because of his erratic and impetuous nature. The best option for the Red Devils is to sell the 25-year-old defender and generate some revenue for further arrivals in the summer.
