Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has suggested that Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay would be available for the match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Ten Hag will be seeking a good response in Sunday’s trip to City Ground after the Red Devils’ loss against Sevilla at Old Trafford yesterday.
The manager will be missing a number of important players before the game, including Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Marcus Rashford due to injury, though some may come back.
While speaking to the press conference before the match, the Dutch manager has now revealed that Shaw and McTominay could be available to play against Forest.
As reported by the club’s official website, he said:
“Are any players available that were missing? For Sunday, yeah, [they] could be. But we have to see. We have now two sessions to go of training, so I don’t know now. But it can be that Scott and Luke return in the squad, but [we are] not sure.”
United was leading by two goals against Sevilla on Thursday night’s Europa League clash but they ultimately gave up two late own goals.
Tyrell Malacia scored the first own goal. The Dutchman also performed poorly, winning just three of his 11 duels and losing control of the ball 11 times.
We believe that Malacia could be dropped against Forest and Shaw might start if he is declared fit. If not, Diogo Dalot might fill the spot. McTominay might be available but could suffer a slight knock.
It is unlikely that Scottish star McTominay will start in the no. 6 position as Casemiro could mark his return from hid four-match domestic suspension.
