Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag chose not to provide clarity on the future of Dean Henderson as the goalkeeper prepares to return from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
The 26-year-old keeper has been out of action since January 21 due to a thigh injury that needed surgery earlier this month.
Due to his recovery timeline, Henderson may not be available until early August. Furthermore, there is uncertainty surrounding the No. 1 goalkeeper position at United beyond this season, with David de Gea’s role being questioned.
Additionally, United has shown interest in Anderlecht shot-stopper Bart Verbruggen.
Ten Hag was asked about Henderson’s future at the club but the gaffer preferred to stay silent on this matter. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:
“Same answer. This is not my focus point. Recruitment, scouting, transfers…I put all my energy into the games coming up. This is a massive week, so our focus is on that. We are at the end of the season.”
Henderson has already been quite vocal about his time at Old Trafford. He had given an ugly interview in which he blamed the club for his current situation.

However, many pundits and former players slammed the goalkeeper for speaking harshly about the club. It was quite clear by that time that he would not be handed a new contract at United and the club would directly sell him this summer.
The Red Devils have shown interest in a number of targets. Porto’s Diogo Costa and Anderlecht’s Bart Verbruggen have been closely targeted in recent weeks.
United are also looking forward to handing a new deal to De Gea and also signing a quality backup to provide him competition.
