Erik ten Hag hails Casemiro’s heroic impact against Chelsea

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag had all praise for Casemiro after the Red Devils secured a 1-1 Premier League tie against Chelsea on Saturday.

At Stamford Bridge, the Red Devils had the superior attacking unit in the first half, but they did not make use of their excellent scoring opportunities.

Jorginho gave the Blues the lead from the penalty spot in the 87th minute, but Casemiro’s header in injury time allowed United to force a draw. A beautiful cross from Luke Shaw was delivered inside the box. Casemiro rose up highest to steer the ball past Kepa and past the goal line. After the tie, Ten Hag admitted that the Brazilian international was outstanding and that he is becoming more and more confident with each game.

While speaking to the club’s official website, Ten Hag said:

“He is growing from game to game and now, he made the equaliser. And that gives the team and him more confidence. We need headers, and it was a great finish. But he is coming into the team and you see how important he is.”

“I think he was massive today in his performance. He is now matching the Premier League intensity and from game to game, he will be better. I am confident of that.”

Casemiro was a substitute player at the beginning of the season. Scott McTominay, who was playing well at number six, didn’t give him a place in the starting XI.

But things have changed for him since the beginning of October. In the Manchester derby, McTominay performed poorly. Since then, Casemiro has solidified a spot at the top. His performances have become better with each game. Although he can still do more with keeping the ball, he has been winning several crucial duels.

Last night, the former Real Madrid midfielder won five tackles and up to 10 duels. He also made three clearances and pitched six long balls. He was unfortunate not to get an assist against Newcastle United, but he has contributed to two goals this month.
