Erik Ten Hag has ordered Man United to look out for free agents

Manchester United’s agents have been ordered to keep an eye out for the best available free agents in the forthcoming summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

This has been said since incoming new manager Erik ten Hag is expected to be handed a limited budget this summer.

Erik Ten Hag is now the manager of Ajax, although he will leave the Dutch club at the end of the season to start his new role as the permanent manager of Manchester United. He will take over at Old Trafford from Ralf Rangnick, who has been appointed as caretaker manager until the summer.

With Ajax, the Dutchman has had enormous success in his homeland, winning a host of trophies and developing young and vibrant teams who play an appealing brand of offensive football. He’s on track to make it a hat-trick of Eredivisie titles for Amsterdam this season.

He is expected to repeat his success in the Premier League, turning around the Red Devils’ fortunes as they attempt to rebound from a poor season. The 52-year-old is certainly expected to guide the club into a new era, beginning with a big roster rebuild.

Earlier Ralf Rangnick had stated that United requires at least ten new players to construct a competitive club capable of competing for bigger trophies.

However, Ten Hag will only be handed a transfer budget of roughly £100 million, which may not be enough to bring in the players he requires to rebuild the team.

Given this, the club’s executives have asked their representatives to examine the transfer market for the best deals, with several players set to become free agents this summer.

Stars like Paulo Dybala, Franck Kessie, and Ousmane Dembele could be available without spending a penny, though it’s unclear whether ten Hag is interested in these players.

Instead of signing the biggest names on the transfer market, the Red Devils should develop a new-look club with players that the next head coach can use and play to his strengths, as they have failed to do in the past with talents such as Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

The English giant’s inability to play UCL football next season, as well as the COVID effect of having to play games behind closed doors, will naturally eat into their summer budget.

They appear to have found a way around this problem by focusing on free agents towards the end of the season.
